Emerging unplanned from the incidental pictures Tom Wood amassed over twenty years of taking buses through Liverpool where he lived and worked, Bus Odyssey is a pure expression of his interest in the rhythm of life at the margins. Reminiscent of our school trips to the Pentland Hills. 

Passengers wait for a bus, or their stop, caught in limbo-like states of reflection on the way to work or the shops. Staring blankly out the window or occasionally connecting with Wood, tacitly consenting to their photo being taken. Solitude and chaos collide as people crowd shelters or cram themselves aboard. 

While his unsteady focus and motion blur add to the feeling of being on public transport with all its predictable drama, Wood's use of colour takes us somewhere else completely.
